There are so many opportunities for students in all Utah public schools.  Even during the summer, students can participate in amazing opportunities.  Utah public schools are leaders in choice.

  • A group of Farmington High School ornithology students recently traveled to Florida to observe and study birds.  Students had the opportunity to study a variety of birds in their natural habitats.

  • The Mustang Battalion at Herriman High School is the first Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program in Jordan School District.  The program provides students with an opportunity to lead their peers. Emerging leaders take on leadership roles and are nominated to receive awards and promotions at the end of every quarter.

  • This summer Provo School District elementary students had the opportunity to attend activities at Camp Big Springs.  Students participate in science activities throughout the week, interact with their peers, and have fun outside.

  • The Salt Lake City School District’s Community Education Summer Learning Program (CESP) supports more than 800 students in S.T.E.M summer learning through highly engaging hands-on learning. For example, Backman Elementary students traveled to the Bastian Agricultural Center, USU Extension to get a firsthand experience with the leather tooling and grinding wheat into flour.

  • Tooele School District offers a summer coding program for junior high and high school students.  Students learn how to code, participate in interactive games, and have fun.

  • In June Utah students competed in the Annual National History Day Contest in Washington, D.C.  The Utah team represented 17 schools in 14 cities and competed alongside 2,849 students.  Four Utah projects were finalists in their categories, placing them in the top 10 in the world.

Students continue to excel in Utah’s wonderful public schools.  Throughout the school year and into the summer, public schools offer opportunities for all students.  The best choice for students is a Utah public school.
