  1. You can't teach a student to read when they are being chased by a lion. Making sure basic student needs are met so they can have the best chance to learn.
  2. One Trusted Educational Adult....Make that connection. Each student should have at least one adult they trust, look up to, and be inspired by.
  3. Connect with the unconnectable. BREAK DOWN BARRIERS. Some adults and students just need to know if someone is trying. They will reject you nine times out of ten. Sometimes all it takes is a smile or a question about what they like to do outside of school/work.
  4. BE HUMAN. Help people understand you are human too. We all learn from mistakes. We have families. We have hobbies. We are experiencing life together. We have to laugh through the journey
